Inscryption waiting for network2/3/2024 This isn't a big deal, but the cards the pack mule gives you are the same every time as well, tested by killing the pack mule and save scumming. Tough to say what the actual likelihood of card death is on the fire, but it's certainly determined before you enter the fire in the first place. There's a split second where if you lose your card you can hit escape and save scum it, every time I tested this on a killed card it was killed every single time with no exceptions. How many times you can hit the fire before a sacrifice. (tested this about 50 times just because I thought it was silly, stupid ant card) Fun fact, the prospector's gold will give you what it chose for you regardless of which boulder you hit, it is always the same reward every time. Additionally, save scumming any battle will give you the same hand you left every single time.ģ card picks, 3 flavor picks and the prospector's gold are all pre-determined (probably when the map loads again). I'm reasonably sure it's when the new map loads because I've done 1 of 2 battle opens a myriad of times while save scumming, getting the same hand in each totem battle each time. Your opening hand in each battle is determined for every position whenever a new map loads. In no particular order, here's a list I've found after ~30 hours of things that are either not random or give you the illusion of choice: I would just like to lose because of a failure on my part y'know. With all that said, it's not like I don't want a challenge or to always win. I get that it's in beta and all that, I just hope this is reworked along the path of progress, because it's a bummer sometimes. If the game doesn't give you your 1/8th chance oro, dwolf, gigamantis or w/e your busted win strategy is - you lose. Ultimately some of these things make it feel really frustrating when you're cruising on a 70 point challenge and go up against 6+ damage for turn 2. Inscryption appears to be a heavily seed-driven game. Emphasizing random here because seed generated randomness is still random I suppose, just not random at time of value generation like it's portrayed at times (pick 3, drawing cards, etc) I've tested and tested and found quite a few things that seem "random" or choice are not random or choice at all. Darker still are the secrets inscrybed upon the cards. Inscryption is a narrative focused, card-based odyssey that blends the deckbuilding roguelike, escape-room style puzzles, and psychological horror into a blood-laced smoothie. Part 2: >!That will be used in part 2!< About the game:įrom the creator of Pony Island and The Hex comes the latest mind melting, self-destructing love letter to video games. When talking about a certain part of the game, if it doesn't directly pertain to the section of the game the post is about, be sure to tag it like this: Please don't post any asset dumps however single posts and similar are fine. Make sure any posts past the fourth boss are spoiler tagged with the proper part flair. It should be fairly obvious when you enter a new part but just in case you're unsure, here's the start of each partįinale starts when you lose the ability to pause the game. Please try not to spoil any big twists or encounters in your title.
